The weekend of 11 Aug 12, Tracy and I started driving north to find a place that wasn't cloudy
so we could watch the Perseids meteor shower. We seemed to just keep driving and driving,
and we ended up on the southern end of the Winds. We drove the Louis Lake Rd by the Popo
Agie Wilderness over to Lander. As always, the Winds are great, and, as always, the
trailheads were pretty crowded. We ended up car camping out in the desert southeast of
Lander, where we had great skies for the meteor shower. The shower was pretty good...no
fireballs and none caught on camera, but still a decent show. We will probably hike more out
there since we haven't hiked anywhere in the southern Winds.
